Once firmly in Atlanta’s shadow as the South’s urban gem, this former little textile town is now a first rate metropolis. But growth hasn’t stripped Charlotte of it’s southern charm. This sophisticated city has managed to hang on to the small-town feel that earned it the distinction as the most livable city from the United States Conference of Mayors.
The Cost of living in Charlotte is 7% lower than the national average, which is very low compared to many other large cities in the United States. The most notable aspect is the cost of housing. At 23% below the national average, Charlotte has one of the most affordable housing markets in the country.
